Once out of the caves Amarabette left Frostfang and went around to her Captains having them relieve the current guards with their most loyal and wanting everyone else to gather at the parade ground.
Out in the open Halftail was staked watching everyone gather, this was going to be bad. As far as most of the horde could remember Amarabette had never resorted to public punishment, Preferring to use the loss of rank or rations to discipline wayward behavior.
Amarabette stalked back and forth. This was long over due, the troops knew she had knowledge of almost everything going on in the army but somewhere they had lost fear of her. Loss of fear meant loss of respect, loss of respect led to muntiny. Amarabette knew she had to spark fear once again before things went out of control.

Frostfang chuckled to himself a bit. Amarabette was finally going to do something to put the rest of the horde in their place. He had made a few plans to do it himself, but that risked undermining Amarabette's authority (a potentially deadly idea).
Deathwind, in the meantime, was standing at attention next to Frostfang. Though they were separate from the rest of the horde, the black fox still felt uneasy just at the sight of all the hordebeasts and the fact that he was in plain sight of them.
It didn't help that Frostfang nudged him (perhaps a smidge harder than necessary) to get his attention.
"Enjoy the show, fox," The ermine encouraged. "And keep in mind that Amarabette's your boss now."
Deathwind remained silent, focusing on maintiaining his composure. The last he wanted for his fear of crowds to become widespread knowledge. An assassin with known weaknesses wouldn't live for much longer.

Amarabette waited till all were gathered and settled, a moment of almost absolute silence when she had their complete attention.
“All of you know me, I know all know of you. But very few of you gathered here have actually ever campaigned with me” She caught a hesitant nod from a couple almost elderly rats, a stoat, and her assistant Crawler
“I thought, since we were in a new place with plentiful resources I wouldn’t have to be too harsh on any of you” Out of the corner of her eye Amarabette saw her two other captains, a white fox named Windsnap, and a silver pine marten named Iceblood. The pair sat in an elevated position on some rocks opposite of Frostfang and Deathwind, both could see where this was going to lead and had malicious grins on their faces.
“But yet I find you had become lazy and insubordinate. Well it stops here and now!” There was a loud crack and Halftail screamed.

Frostfang chuckled as his mate lashed out with her whip. This was the side of her he loved to see. As clever and well mannered as she usually behaved in front of the troops, there was something about her true, fearsome personality that had drawn him to her.
Deathwind's ear gave an involuntary twitch at the sound of Halftail's scream. His quick eyes had spotted the studs of metal woven into Amarabette's whip. It was obvious this was no ordinary weapon, probably a signature tool much like his favorite knives. Though the assassin's cold heart certainly held no pity for Halftail, he was definitely not jealous of the rat's current position as another crack rent the air.
"See what I mean, " Frostfang chuckled, receiving only a nod of response from the fox.

CRACK!
“Halftail is being punished”
CRACK!
This lash tore the skin and Amarabette calmly sidestepped to avoid the blood “For stealing food”
CRACK!
“For missing guard duty”
CRACK!
“and for allowing at least 5 fellow horde to be killed” the female ermine flicked her whip through the water to clean it. The wrapped it around the waist so it was disguised once more as a belt
“Where is Blackpaw?!” there was a loud gulp as a ermine with solid black paws stood up “Ah good, now take him down to the sea and give Halftail a bath, then you can guard him for the next 48 hours in the prison cell at the bottom of the quarry”
"buut You Your white-ness, when will I sleep?" the other ermine cringed at the evil smile his leader gave him.
"how about after you make up for the last 3 guard shifts you slept through" she puased as a frightened murmur passed through the assembled hordebeasts, the general oppinion was that Blackpaw had gotten away with his behavior but obviously not...
"and as for the rest of you!" when amarabette readressed the crowd silence reigned again "From now on I will personally deal with any disobedience... clear? then dismissed and report to Windsnap or Iceblood for your orders!" Amarabette began stalking back to her quarters passing Deathwind and Frostfang as she went
"That put fear into them again didn't it?" she joked with the pair as she went by and then was out of sight.

Frostfang chuckled, slapping Deathwind on the back (much to the fox's annoyance.)
"And that's why she's in charge, got it?" Frostfang pointed out.
"All too well," Deathwind muttered.
"Good, now you should get back to that scouting before you become the next 'example,'" Frostfang threatened, but with a rather encouraging tone.
"And my officer position...?" Deathwind wondered.
"We'll be sure the whole horde knows who you answer to, don't worry," Frostfang grinned.
No more needing to be said, Deathwind was quick to stalk away form the camp with all due speed, before the other hordebeasts could pay a lot of attention to him. Frostfang watched as the fox quickly scaled one of the trails out of the quarry, vanishing into the shadows of the forest.
Satisfied with the day's events, Frostfang headed toward the cave to see Amarabette. No doubt after all that excitement she'd have some orders for him regarding what sort of tasks to get the horde started on.
