Name: Ziminiar Breathtaker
Species: European Adder (Vipera berus)
Age (in seasons): 18
Gender: Female
Family: Unknown parents and siblings, the Southern Scourge (recent ancestor), Asmodeus Poisonteeth & Baliss the Slayer (distant ancestral cousins)
Friends: None known at this point in time, possible sorority with elder serpents.
Foes: None specifically, does not differentiate between friends and foes so much as those who are or are not of use to her.
Scales: Brown-and-dark green scales with a diamond pattern.
Build: Slender with compacted muscles as is average for her species, lacking in length due to juvenile age.
Clothing: None.
Quest: As yet undecided, seems to be focussed purely on her own survival at this time.
Battle Cry: “Zzziminiar!”
Weapons: Fangs and venom (natural).
Talents: As per the nature of her species, she possesses an intuitive sense of smell and taste and is able to detect vibrations through the ground as well. She is also adept at using natural forest camouflage to stalk her prey due to her undeveloped size.
Quirks: She may be afflicted by some form of Multiple Personality Disorder as she tends to talk to herself when strategising, referring to her submissive and dominant selves as, “Ziminiar,” and, “Breathtaker,” respectively. Despite being an adder and therefore known to kill with her venom, the Breathtaker personality occasionally uses her coils to crush the life from smaller prey, possibly out of some sadistic enjoyment.
Qualities: The Ziminiar personality is not a completely cold-blooded killer and is open to negotiate or give aid providing she has something to gain. When not hunting she is able to appreciate the beautiful nature around her. Meanwhile, the Breathtaker personality is not so arrogant as to be above tactically retreating when she is outnumbered or otherwise at a disadvantage.
Passions/Hobbies: The Ziminiar personality is much more in-tune with the environment around her and enjoys immersing herself in it, slipping through grass and tree branches or gliding across bodies of water. The Breathtaker personality is obsessed with becoming bigger and stronger so most of her time is taken up hunting and killing, though she has some taste in music, often tying the bones of her victims up within her lair as makeshift wind-chimes.
Weaknesses/Flaws/Fears/Phobias: Being of small stature, she fears larger serpents who would eat her cannibalistically. Due to her youth and her undeveloped immune system, she is still susceptible to her own venom. During the winter months, the search for warmth becomes top priority since being cold-blooded she is weakened and thus made vulnerable by low temperatures. As two personalities who are fully aware of each other, Ziminiar and Breathtaker have been known to actively argue.
History: Since the time of the last adder patriarchy in which the area surrounding Redwall Abbey fell under whatever mysterious siege left it barren, the Quarry where the species were known to reside became notably emptier, inhabited only by a few surviving bloodlines. When Ziminiar and her siblings were still young, most of them were killed in a desperate Vermin raid. Though the invaders were defeated, there were many adders lost in the battle. Her father fled with the surviving siblings, not realising that Ziminiar was trapped in one of the many tunnels. She was eventually able to find her way to another exit within those tunnels, but the loneliness had led her to begin conversing with herself and thus was born the Breathtaker personality, which possessed the uncompromising willpower needed for her to continue living despite being the only one of her kind left. Under her other self’s guidance, Ziminiar taught herself to survive through the use of stealth, becoming a silent killer and the new dominator of the Quarry, fast-tracking her way to the icy efficiency of her predecessors. Breathtaker also provided sufficient company so Ziminiar never felt the need to leave the Mossflower region, even to find other adders. She is therefore naïve of their ways and remembers only the most base of their primal instincts.
Recently, Ziminiar took to visiting the run-down Redwall Abbey, but upon witnessing the arrival of several travellers, some of whom were too great of size for her to contend with in confidence, she slunk back to her domain, where other surprises were awaiting her.
