Deathwind had paused in his scouting mission, peeling a fresh apple with the dagger he'd claimed from Halftail. This was proving to be a remarkably simple task, seeing as he knew Mossflower like the back of his paw. The only reason to really bother scouting was to ensure that the other vermin gangs were still in their respective territories.
So far that hadn't been a problem, and only one area was left to explore now. The old ruined abbey not far from where the assassin was resting. As he finished off his apple, he made all due speed along the edge of the overgrown trail until the structure was in sight.
Though Deathwind had no idea of what Redwall may have once stood for, he did know that it now served as the occasional base for recently formed gangs of vermin. It was also the only spot in all of Mossflower that none of them wanted to hold onto for very long for whatever reason. Still, he was getting paid to do a job so there was no reason to be sloppy.
Stealing around the sidewalls, Deathwind smirked as he spotted the huge oak towering near the southern wall. Its branches extended toward one of the upper rooms, and it would be child's play for the fox to scale the tree and enter the upper chambers. He'd done it many times in the past to get a handle on who was currently occupying the old building.
Taking a moment to wrap a strip of cloth around each paw as padding against he rough bark of the oak, Deathwind began to scale.
